SALEM, VA.. — The Averett University women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Roanoke College at the Elizabeth Campus Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Roanoke (5-7) essentially started the match leading 3-0 as the Cougars fell by default in No. 3 doubles, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Averett (9-5) earned two points in doubles action as the senior duo of Louise Hovhammar and Eleanor Crane earned an 8-2 victory. At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of freshman Paula Ryhsen and sophomore Alejandra Garcia also rolled to an 8-2 win.
In singles play, Hovhammar, Crane, Ryhsen, and Garcia all won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Averett returns to action Thursday, at 3 p.m. when they host Sweet Briar College to conclude the season.
