DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis program earned a victory 9-0 on senior day over Meredith College on Saturday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (6-2, 2-0 USA South) won each singles match in straight sets as well as running away with doubles play to begin the day.
At No. 1 singles, senior
Louise Hovhammar won 6-1, 6-3, for the Cougars. Senior
Eleanor Crane, junior
Inka Zeilstra, freshman
Paula Ryhsen, and sophomore
Alejandra Garcia all won 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles, respectively.
Averett also dominated doubles taking every match. In No. 1 doubles, Hovhammar and Crane earned a 8-0 victory. At No. 2 doubles, Zeilstra and Ryhsen rolled to a 8-1 victory.
The Cougars are back in action when they host North Carolina Wesleyan for a conference match Wednesday at 2 p.m.
