DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's tennis program dropped a home conference match, 7-1, against Methodist University on Friday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts. The teams were unable to complete the match after battling a weather delay.
Averett (6-4, 2-2 USA South) saw freshman
Paula Ryhsen win her No. 4 singles matchup 6-2, 6-3. Senior
Louise Hovhammar won her first set 6-2 and was tied 4-4 in the second set before the teams were unable to complete No. 1 singles after the delay. In No. 3 singles action, junior
Inka Zeilstra won the first set 7-5 and was tied 2-2 before having to retire due to injury.
Methodist (7-11, 4-0 USA South) took all three doubles matches.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to Pfeiffer University, Sunday, at 1 p.m.
