DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University Director of Golf
Ben Potter announced the addition of
Brooke Wetzel as an assistant coach with the men's and women's golf programs on Friday.
Wetzel will assist with the Cougars' storied men's golf team, as well as the newly added women's golf program, which begins play in fall 2021.
Wetzel played collegiately for four seasons at NAIA Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, from 2017-21. During her senior season, she helped Southeastern finish ranked No. 4 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll after the Fire finished as runner-up in the conference tournament. Wetzel played in five tournaments as a senior, finishing with top-20 finishes in four of those tournaments.
In addition to playing golf, Wetzel has worked with the Special Olympic golf team of Osecola County as a unified partner and coach.
A native of St. Cloud, Florida, Wetzel earned her bachelor's of science in business marketing from Southeastern in 2021. She is currently pursuing her master's of business administration from Averett.
