DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's soccer rattled off three first half goals to earn a 3-0 shutout victory over William Peace University Tuesday night on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Averett (3-3-1, 1-1-0 USA South) saw senior
Thania Hernandez give the Cougars a 1-0 lead immediately with a goal in the 2nd minute of the ball game. Just shortly after that, freshman
Celia de Diego drilled a one timer into the back of the net in the 12th minute off a Hernandez assist.
De Diego wasn't finished just yet as she scored once again for her 10th goal on the year chipping the goalie in the 43rd minute giving the Cougars a 3-0 advantage headed into halftime.
William Peace (2-3-2, 0-1-1 USA South) only tallied six shots on goal compared to Averett's 10.
Senior goalkeeper Morgan Dills earned six saves on the night while keeping a clean sheet.
Averett is back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. when it travels to Salem College.
