GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sophomore
Jason Sellars II had career-highs in points and rebounds as Averett University men's basketball defeated Greensboro College 70-59 in USA South Conference action on Wednesday night in Hanes Gymnasium, which gave head coach
David Doino his 100th career win.

Averett (6-8, 3-1 USA South) overcame a slow start and a quick deficit to go in front 14-13 on sophomore
Jordan Lewis' layup midway through the period. The Cougars only ceded the lead once after that point before taking a 32-26 advantage into the break on senior
Jalen Rowell's last-second layup.

The Cougars never relinquished the lead in the second half, keeping Greensboro (6-8, 1-2 USA South) at a comfortable distance the rest of the way to pick up their fourth win in a row while giving Doino a milestone victory.

Sellars finished with his first career double-double, totaling career-highs with 17 points and 11 rebounds while playing in his hometown. Redshirt freshman
Jem Lowrance also gave the Cougars a boost with a career-best 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Lewis and junior
Corey Baldwin both scored 11 points as well for Averett, which shot better than 46 percent from the floor.

Averett is scheduled to travel to Methodist University on Saturday.
