FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University women's basketball program fell short 64-58 against Methodist University on Monday night inside the Riddle Center.
Averett (4-11, 4-4 USA South) was led by sophomore
Shunte Bethea who had a career-high 16 rebounds recording a double double adding 12 points as well. Sophomore
Talia Prosper was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 14 points.
Methodist (9-7, 7-3 USA South) was led by Kiley Hicks who had a game-high 18 points.
The Cougars faced a three-point deficit at the end of the first quarter and headed into halftime trailing by six.
With three minutes to play Averett took a two-point lead off two free throws from senior
Courtney Hunt before being outscored 8-0 to finish the game.
Averett is back in action when it travels to Mary Baldwin University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
