STAUNTON, VA. — The Averett University women's basketball program fell short 66-63 against Mary Baldwin University on Wednesday night.
Averett (4-12, 4-5 USA South) was led by sophomore
Talia Prosper who led all scorers with 15 points and also adding five steals. Sophomore
Kalie Fleming tallied a career-high 13 rebounds and adding five points.
The Cougars headed into the halftime break leading by 10 and was able to extend its lead all the way to 14 at one point in the third quarter.
Mary Baldwin (9-6, 5-4 USA South) trailed by seven with under three minutes to play but ended the game on a 11-1 run to come back and earn the victory over the Cougars.
Averett is back in action when it hosts Greensboro College Saturday at 4 p.m.
