DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's basketball program is off to a 3-1 conference start after a 79-56 victory over Meredith College on Friday night inside the Grant Center.
Averett (3-8 3-1 USA South) was led by senior
Camryn Lunsford who tallied 21 points and six steals while freshman
Jaa Brown set a career-high in points with 14. Senior
Rana Davis-Robinson added 12 points while adding a career-high in steals with six.
Meredith (2-9, 2-3 USA South) trailed by six-points headed into the second quarter before going on a 13-0 run to crawl back into the game. The Cougars did a great job fending off the run by the Avenging Angels and headed into the halftime break still clinging to that six-point lead.
The game was all tied at 50 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Averett outscored Meredith 29-6 to earn the 23-point victory. Averett tallied season highs in total points, shooting percentage and steals.
Averett is back in action tomorrow, when it hosts to William Peace University with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
