NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Averett University volleyball team swept York College before falling in straight sets to Christopher Newport University on the road Saturday.
Averett (18-10, 10-2 ODAC) took down York (12-15, 3-4 MAC) in straight sets, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 to start off the day.
Junior
Sarah Marlowe tallied 10 kills in the match while junior
Destiny McIntosh led the blocking efforts with six blocks in the match. Sophomore
Kinsley Stevens recorded 15 assists and junior
Erin Gray had 22 digs.
In their second match of the day, Averett fell 3-0 to Christopher Newport (20-11, 1-4 C2C).
Junior
Emma Nash recorded 10 kills in the match while Freshman
Dayton Moore handed out nine assists. Gray tallied 16 digs in the match and sophomore
Kayleigh Gentry had nine digs.
Averett is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 against Eastern Mennonite University in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference quarterfinals. Match time is still to be determined.
