DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University volleyball took down conference foe Guilford College 3-0 on Friday at the Grant Center to kick off Homecoming weekend.
Averett (11-7, 6-2 ODAC) defeated Guilford (2-14, 0-6 ODAC) by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20.
The Cougars added another ODAC victory with a balanced attack that saw junior
Sarah Marlowe get 14 kills and junior
Emma Nash put down 12 kills with 15 digs. Senior
Morgan Barnes added seven kills, junior
Erin Gray had a team-high 20 digs and junior
Destiny McIntosh had a team-best five total blocks. Freshman
Dayton Moore added 26 assists with eight digs for the Cougars.
Prior to the match, Averett honored former head coach
Danny Miller with a surprise video tribute while giving out cutout Miller heads on popsicle sticks. Some fans even received free gold, navy or white cabbie caps that Miller is usually seen wearing.
Averett travels to play Ferrum College on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
