DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's soccer had five players earn 2022 Academic All-District honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.

Senior Madison Morin, juniors Samantha Casey, Katri Kakko and Remy Vigouroux, as well as sophomore Celia de Diego, all earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team for being key players for the Cougars while also earning at least a cumulative 3.5 grade point average.

Morin, a center midfielder from Woodbridge, Virginia, played in all 16 games, making 13 starts for the Cougars. She has a 3.93 GPA while majoring in sports medicine and is the Averett Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president. Casey, a center back from Charlotte, North Carolina, started all 16 games and had one assist. Casey has a 4.0 GPA while majoring in business with a concentration in accounting. Kakko a center back from Tampere, Finland, who is graduating in three years, had one goal and two assists while starting all 16 games for Averett. She has a 4.0 GPA while majoring in health and physical education with K-12 teaching licensure. Vigouroux, a center midfielder from Coto de Caza, California, had three goals and one assist while starting 14 of the 16 game she played. Vigouroux is majoring in environmental science and has a 3.83 GPA. A native of Valladolid, Spain, de Diego led the Cougars with seven goals and three assists while starting 11 of 15 games this season. Majoring in aerospace management (flight operations and criminal justice), de Diego has a 3.88 GPA.

All five players are eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
