DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University baseball dropped two non-conference games against Marymount University on Saturday at Owen-Fulton Field.
Marymount University (5-0) used a big fifth inning to roll past Averett (1-7) 9-2 in the seven-inning opener before pulling out a 6-1 win to finish the doubleheader.
In the opener, Averett fell behind 2-0 before knotting the game up 2-2 with back to back runs the second and third innings. Senior
Avery Spicer tallied two hits and an RBI.
Marymount's offense exploded for seven runs in the last three innings of Game 1.
Spicer also led the Cougars in game two with an RBI and one hit.
Averett travels to Hampden-Sydney College on March 2 at 3 p.m.
