FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University women's lacrosse team earned a tough road conference win over Methodist University 18-16 on Saturday afternoon.
Averett (5-3, 3-1 USA South) stormed out to a 8-4 lead over Methodist (3-5, 1-2 USA South) at the end of the first half. A seven goal third quarter helped the Monarchs battle back but the Cougars were able to hang on in the fourth scoring enough goals to down Methodist.
Graduate student
Elizabeth Peasley scored a game high and season high seven goals while also adding two assists. With this effort, Peasley notched 300 career points as a Cougar. Feshman
Faith Bowlin scored three goals while junior
Raven Felder also netted a hat trick for the Cougars.
Juniors
Adriana Perez and
Kelsey Steckroth added two goals while senior Courtney Delone added a goal as well.
Averett returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Greensboro College at 3 p.m.
