CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Averett University women's tennis program earned a tight 4-3 win over Division II Johnson C. Smith University on Sunday afternoon at the Coleman/Cuthberton Tennis Courts.
Averett (5-3) rolled winning every doubles match as freshmen
Maxence Lippens and
Linnea Sjostrom Krook picked up the 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles to set the tone for the Cougars. Senior
Inka Zeilstra and freshman
Keira Gunning picked up the win at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, while junior
Alejandra Garcia and sophomore
Paula Ryhsen won 6-1 at in the No. 3 doubles slot.
Lippens, Gunning and Garcia picked up wins in singles action as well. Gunning and Garcia won in straight sets as Lippens earned a tight 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory.
The Cougars are back in action when they travel to conference foe Meredith College Wednesday at 3:30.
