DANVILLE, Va.— The Averett University men's wrestling freshman
Hunter Campbell was named to the 2022 d3wrestle.com All-Freshman Team following a strong rookie campaign.
Campbell, a native of Leland, North Carolina, was a 2022 NCAA Division III national qualifier as a freshman after finishing as the NCAA Southeast Region runner-up at 149 pounds this season. He went 23-10, won the Southeast Wrestling Conference championship at 149 and the Cougar Open at 141 and was ranked No. 5 in the region by the NWCA after moving into the starting lineup midway through the spring.
Campbell is the second Cougar to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team, joining current junior
George Moseley, who was selected in 2020.
