BUENA VISTA, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse saw its seven-game win streak come to an end Tuesday afternoon after falling to Southern Virginia University 20-9.

Averett (11-4, 8-2 USA South) went back and forth with Southern Virginia (9-6, 8-1 USA South) in the first quarter and took a 3-2 before giving up back to back goals and trailing 4-3 to end the period.

The Cougars were outscored 15-5 through the second and third quarters, proving to be the difference for the Knights. 

Senior Elizabeth Peasley and junior Raven Felder both tallied hat tricks for Averett while freshman Faith Bowlin scored two goals and added an assist.

Averett will likely host a USA South quarterfinals match up in the conference tournament on Tuesday.
