GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University baseball edged Greensboro College 3-2 in Game 2 of their conference series Saturday.
Averett (14-25, 7-13 USA South) took a 2-0 lead in the third on sophomore Brandy Brophy's RBI sacrifice fly, followed by senior
Avery Spicer's RBI single. The Cougars added a third run in the sixth inning on junior
Kyle Wilson's RBI single, which proved to be crucial.
Greensboro (14-21, 9-11 USA South) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Averett held on.
Freshman right-hander
Jake Braun (2-2) got the win, going 7.1 innings with nine strikeouts. Sophomore
Shane Michel earned the save.

Mason Williams had two hits for the Cougars, who had eight hits as a team.
