DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's tennis cruised to a 9-0 win over Mary Baldwin University in USA South Conference play on Tuesday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (8-4, 5-0 USA South) didn't lose a game in doubles as the No. 1 duo of freshmen
Maxence Lippens and
Linnea Sjostrom Krook and the No. 2 tandem of senior
Inka Zeilstra and freshman
Keira Gunning each won 8-0. The Cougars wrapped up doubles action with another 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles from sophomore
Paula Ryhsen and junior
Alejandra Garcia.
Lippens picked up a victory at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Zeilstra won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Ryhsen and freshman
Megan Lombardt won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles as well — both 6-0, 6-0. Also, Krook and Garcia picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins.
The Cougars have won six of their last seven matches and are back in action Saturday for Senior day when they host Pfeiffer at 1 p.m.
