ARLINGTON, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse freshman Faith Bowlin was named the 2022 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) State Co-Rookie of the Year on Thursday as Bowlin and graduate student Elizabeth Peasley both earned a spot on the VaSID All-State College Division Second Team.

Bowlin, a midfielder from Abingdon, Maryland, became the second Cougar to be named USA South Conference Rookie of the Year earlier this spring and was named to the USA South All-Conference Second Team and USA South All-Tournament Team. Bowlin finished the season with 55 goals, 15 assists and 70 points. She led the Cougars with 67 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers, and she had 68 draw controls. She was in the top 10 in the conference in five categories. Bowlin was selected as USA South Rookie of the Week four times this season.

Peasley, an attacker from Wilmington, North Carolina, earned all-conference for the fourth time in her five-year career (there was no all-conference team selected in 2020). She led the team and conference with 60 goals and 16 assists in 16 games this season, and her 76 points ranked second in the USA South. She also had 109 draw controls, 54 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Peasley, who became one of only 11 players in NCAA Division III history to surpass 300 career goals, was named USA South Player of the Week three times this season.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
