DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University men's soccer team announced its 2022 schedule, which includes nine homes games on Daly Field at the Frank R. Campbell Stadium. Heading into his ninth year as the head coach, Philip Wilson will lead the Cougars into the season on Sept. 1 when they travel to Southern Virginia University at 1 p.m.

Following the opener, the Cougars have a big matchup against Greensboro College at home on Sept 7 at 6 p.m. Next, the Cougars face Division I Davidson College on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in a road matchup.

The Cougars, who begin their first season in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, will open up their ODAC schedule at home on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. against Virginia Wesleyan University. 

On Oct. 7 at 5 p.m., the Cougars host Bridgewater College during homecoming weekend.

The Cougars are slated to face Shenandoah University at home for their senior day on Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.

"The fall 2022 season is an exciting schedule with Averett transitioning into the ODAC," Wilson said. "While keeping a few of the USA South teams on the schedule, we have also added a game against Davidson College. It will provide the team great exposure to DI competition, which will ultimately help as we get deep into conference play. Our overall strength of schedule has increased from previous seasons with the addition of Washington and Lee, Roanoke College and Eastern Connecticut State University. It is going to force our team to be more consistent week in and week out as we strive for a strong finish."

Averett is set to begin ODAC Tournament play Oct. 29.
