LEXINGTON, Ky. — Averett University women's golf opened the 2022 fall season with two rounds on Saturday to begin play at the Transylvania University Fall Invitational. Averett sophomore Lilli Caroline Tamburstuen led the Cougars by finishing Day 1 tied for 14th at 13-under-par.
 
Averett as a team sits in ninth place after carding a collective 119-over 695 over the first 36 holes at the University Club of Kentucky's par-72, 5,680-yard course. The Cougars, in their second season as a program, collected a team score for the first time in school history.
 
Tamburstuen fired a 4-over 76 in the opening round and followed that up with a 9-over 81 to finish the opening day of play. Freshman Anika Ouellette made her collegiate debut with a pair of 9-over 81s to set in 23rd place at 18-over.

Additionally for the Cougars, freshman Sophia Marshall sits at 31-over through two rounds, while freshman Madison Masoudpour is at 57-over and freshman Hannah Gammons is at 79-over.

Karen Lee of the University of Texas at Dallas leads the 54-hole tournament at 1-under with a four-stroke lead over Bree Wilson from Rhodes College. UT-Dallas also leads the field as a team at 21-over, which is three strokes better than Rhodes.

The final round will be played on Sunday.
