GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Averett University volleyball team fell 3-2 in a five-set heartbreaker on the road against Greensboro College in non-conference action on Tuesday night.
Averett (4-4) took the first set 25-19 before falling to Greensboro (5-5) in the second 25-21 and third set 25-21 The Cougars would regain momentum, taking the fourth set 25-19. Greensboro would use a strong start in the fifth set to take the final set 15-12.
Junior
Erin Gray recorded her 1,000 career dig in the match, Gray totaled 17 digs on the night. Gray now sits ninth all-time in the 25 point set scoring era with 1,005 digs. Sophomore
Kinsley Stevens and freshman
Dayton Moore teamed up to dish out 41 assists in the match, while Stevens recorded at team-high 20 digs.
Junior
Sarah Marlowe totaled a team-high 14 kills, while senior
Morgan Barnes recorded 12 kills in the match.
Averett is back in action Thursday when it travels to Hollins University to open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. First serve is set for 7 p.m..
