ARLINGTON, Va. - The Averett University volleyball team went 1-1 on the day at the Marymont University trimatch on Saturday.
Averett (6-5) opened the day with 3-1 loss to Marymount University (5-5). The Cougars would drop the first set 25-21, and took back the second set 25-16. Averett would drop sets three and four 25-16 and 25-19.
Senior Jessica Bean and Junior
Sarah Marlowe each had nine kills in the match, while junior
Emma Nash recorded eight. Junior
Destiny McIntosh led the team in blocks with five while Junior
Erin Gray led the team defensively with 21 digs.
Later in the day, Averett would sweep York College (6-3). Averett would take the sets by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-21.
Nash totaled seven kills in the match while freshman
Dayton Moore dished out 16 assists. As a team, Averett totaled 43 digs in the match along with 10 service aces.
Averett is back in aciton on Wednesday when they host the University of Lynchburg in the E. Stuart James Grant Center at 7 p.m.
