DANVILLE, VA – Averett University men's soccer lost 2-0 in their first ODAC matchup against Virginia Wesleyan University in Frank R. Campbell Stadium at Daly Field on Wednesday evening.
Averett's (2-4-2) junior goalkeeper
Tyler Yates had seven saves in the match.
Within the first two minutes of play, Virginia Wesleyan (6-1-1) took a 1-0 lead after Juan Tovar sent the ball into the back of the net.
Virginia Wesleyan extended their lead to 2-0 when Tovar found the net for the second time in the match, he was assisted by IIan Mejia.
The Cougars return to play on Saturday when they travel to face Hampden-Sydney College at 7 p.m.
