Game Notes: Averett vs. Apprentice
The Series: Averett is 0-2 all-time against Apprentice, but the two foes haven't met since 2002, which was the third season of Averett football's existence. The first meeting was in 2000, the Cougars' first season. They were scheduled to play two other times, but both road meetings were canceled in 2001 (weekend after 9/11 attacks) and 2003 (hurricane).
Averett at a Glance: Averett University opens the 2022 campaign at home against a non-conference foe, the Apprentice School. Averett went 5-5 (4-4 USA South) in its final season in the USA South Conference before joining the Old Dominion Athletic Conference officially on July 1, 2022.
Apprentice at a Glance: Apprentice, meanwhile, went 2-7 last season. The Builders edged Brevard College in overtime to open the 2021 season and their only other win came via forfeit to Guilford College.
