DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's soccer team topped Salem College at home today 2-1.
Celia de Diego got the Cougars on the board first with her goal in the 12th minute assisted by
Katri Kakko. de Diego has scored a goal in all three of Averett's games so far this season.
The Cougars would take a 2-0 lead over the saints in the 67th minute from a Salem own goal.
The Saints would try and mount a late comeback from a converted penalty kick in the 88th minute to bring the final game sore to 2-1.
Averett is back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Bob Jones University, kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
