Women's basketball falls at Mary Washington

Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Averett University women's basketball team fell on the road to the University of Mary Washington, who is receiving votes in the latest national poll 76-34 on Saturday. 

Averett (3-12, 1-8 ODAC) had the early lead over Mary Washington (14-3, 0-1 C2C) before the Eagles would take control of the game.

Freshman Taylor Ray led the Cougars offensive efforts with 10 points while junior Jihnez Hutchinson pulled down eight rebounds, sophomore Olivia Garner had six rebounds in the outing. Hutchinson also chipped in two blocks. 

As a team, Averett out-rebounded Mary Washington 42 to 38.

Averett is back in action when it hosts Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe, Virginia Wesleyan University on Wendesday at 5 p.m.
