The Events: The Cougars are 1-2 all-time against the Panthers. They won their last matchup at home last season 35-5.
Averett at a Glance : The Cougars, tied for No. 24 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III tournament team rankings, enter their sixth dual competition with a 14-7 record. In their last dual competition, the Cougars defeated Liberty University 28-18 in their last dual competition. In addition to Liberty, the Cougars also defeated Johns Hopkins University 27-12 and Davis & Elkins University 39-3 to place fifth in the Virginia Duals. ... Graduate student Alex Turley won Old Dominion Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors on Jan. 9 ... Sophomore Mason Barrett is ranked No. 7 in the NWCA national rankings at 125 pounds. In the 157-pound weight class Sophomore Jesse Alvarado is ranked sixth in the nation and is currently 20-0 overall. Averett currently has six regionally ranked wrestlers.
