DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's soccer fell to University of Lynchburg 4-0 on Wednesday night on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Lynchburg (7-3, 3-1 ODAC) scored its opening goal in the ninth minute of play. The Averett (4-5-2, 1-2 ODAC) defense held strong for the remainder of the first half, as it faced 13 shots in the opening half and freshman goalkeeper
Krista Hinebaugh made seven saves in the first 45 minutes of action.
The Hornets netted their second goal of the night in the 48th minute of play to go up 2-0. Lynchburg netted two more goals in the 67th minute and the 70th minute of action to go up 4-0.
Freshman Olivia Appelburg recorded the lone shot for the Cougars in the 25th minute of the match. Hinebaugh recorded 12 saves in the match over 17 shots on goal that were faced.
Averett is back in action this weekend when it hits the road to face Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
