DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's basketball wrapped up play at the Lee's Famous Recipe/Hampton Inn Classic on Saturday with a 90-52 loss to Ogelthorpe University.
The Stormy Petrals jumped out to a 15-0 lead quickly in the first quarter before leading 27-7 after the first 10 minutes. The Cougars mounted a comeback in the second quarter, scoring 20 points. Ogelthorpe used a 26-point third quarter to seal the win.
Sophomore Ny'kerasia Coleman led the Cougars with nine points including two three-pointers. Senior
Talia Prosper had a second-best seven points while pulling down six rebounds. Freshman
Sania Johnson led Averett's rebounding efforts with seven rebounds.
Averett pulled down 21 offensive rebounds and 20 defensive rebounds. The Cougars knocked down nine three-pointers during the game.
Averett is back in action at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts No.20/25 University of Mary Washington.
