DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's basketball fell to No. 20/25 University of Mary Washington in non-conference action 65-35 on Tuesday night.
Averett (1-6, 0-1 ODAC) jumped out to an 11-8 lead over No.20/25 University of Mary Washington (5-1, 0-0 C2C) at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars' offense fell cold in the second quarter when the Eagles scored 22 points compared to Averett's 11.
Averett went into the half down eight points but the offensive struggles continued on for the Cougars in the third quarter as they scored four points and Mary Washington's lead increased to 23 points headed into the fourth. The Eagles continued their offensive surge in the fourth, putting up 16 points while Averett scored nine before falling to 65-35.

Talia Prosper had a team-high 10 points, marking her third game scoring double-digits. Sophomore
Skylar Jones led Averett's rebounding efforts with seven rebounds while freshman
Jenkens Ervin has six. Redshirt-freshman
Amore Kirkland and Ervin each led the Cougars in steals with three each.
As a team Averett scored 23 points from the free-throw line while bringing down 27 rebounds.
Averett is back in action when it travels to Ferrum College on Wednesday, November 29 at 7 p.m.
