Averett at a Glance: Averett University men's basketball opens the 2023-24 season officially with a non-conference road game at Pfeiffer University on Thursday. Averett, picked ninth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll, went 10-16 overall last season with a 6-10 mark in conference play in its first year as members of the ODAC. The Cougars lost 73-57 in a preseason exhibition at Division II Virginia State University on Nov. 4.
