Taff nets hat trick in men's lacrosse's loss to Roanoke

DANVILLE, Va. - The Averett University men's lacrosse team fell in its home and Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday night 24-5 to [RV] Roanoke College.

Roanoke (2-1, 1-0 ODAC) would use an 8-0 run to start the game to get ahead of Averett (1-1, 0-1 ODAC) early. Averett would answer back with 7:48 left in the first from junior Connor Taff and again moments later from freshman Tyler Duffey.

Taff netted a hat trick to go along with two ground balls, while Duffey scored two goals. Sophomore Jay Ethridge, freshman Cooper Case and Taff each recorded a caused turnover. In goal, freshman Cameron Prutzman recorded 27 saves, marking the second most saves in a single game in program history. Freshman Cameron Shadduck also had two ground balls.

Averett is back in action Saturday, March 4 when they play host to Methodist University at 5 p.m.
