DANVILLE, Va. - The Averett University women's tennis team downed Guilford College on Saturday 9-0 at home to stay undefeated in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
Averett (4-0, 3-0 ODAC) took both the doubles points over Guilford (0-5, 0-2 ODAC) with
Daniela Poulakidas and
Amelie Brune teaming up at No. 2 doubles to win 8-7(7-4) in tie break.
Freshman
Franka Keil made quick work of her opponent, sweeping Yasmine Elabdellaou 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 singles slot. Sophomore
Keira Gunning followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Paula Rhysen took down top-seeded Hannah Pardue 6-2, 6-1 at the number one seed.
Elisa Battermann had a companing 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Lastly,
Brenda Poulakidas defeated Jolie Nhouyvanisvong 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to cap off the win.
This is the third sweep in a row for the team.
Averett is back in action next Friday when it travels to Roanoke with first serve set for 3 p.m.
