DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University men's lacrosse fell to William Peace University in non-conference action 13-6 at home on Saturday.
William Peace (3-3, 0-1 USA South) took a 3-0 lead over Averett (2-4, 0-1 ODAC) in the first quarter. Averett scored it's first goal at at 14:05 in the second period from freshman
Tyler Duffey. The Pacers netted five goals in the second to take an 8-2 lead into halftime. The Cougars tried to mount a comeback in the second half, scoring four goals and holding William Peace to five.
Duffey netted a hat trick in the game, marking his second hat trick of the season and also chipped in a an assist. Freshman
Cooper Case netted two goals and junior
Connor Taff had one goal. Sophomores
Ty Pearson and
Lachlan Sterling and juniors
Chris Chimera and
Connor Taff each had two caused turnovers. Freshman
Cameron Shadduck picked up eight ground balls.
In goal, freshman
Cameron Prutzman made 19 saves with a 59.4 save percentage.
As a team, Averett had 10 caused turnovers compared to the Pacers five.
Averett is back in action next Saturday when it travels to Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe, Shenandoah University at 1 p.m.
