DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's tennis rolled past Meredith College 9-0 at home on Tuesday to remain undefeated and earn its fifth straight 9-0 win over Division III opponents.
Averett (7-0) swept all three doubles points from Meredith (0-4).
Senior
Alejandra Garcia and junior
Paula Ryhsen teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take down Ellie Osborne and Sophie Phillips 8-1.
At No. 2 doubles, the freshmen duo of
Elisa Battermann and
Brenda Poulakidas defeated Anna Bittler and Claire Southern 8-2.

Franka Keil completed the sweep with their 8-3 win at No. 3 over Savannah Duduk and Hannah Jo Jablonski.
Garcia won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 over Southern to push the Cougars lead to 4-0. Shortly after, freshman
Amelie Brune earned the decisive fifth point from her 6-1, 6-0 win over Duduk at No. 4.
At No. 1 singles, sophomore
Keira Gunning topped Osborne 6-0, 6-1, putting Averett up 6-0.
Daniela Poulakidas cleanly swept Jablonski 6-0,6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Battermann picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win over Phillips at the No. 3 slot.
Keil capped off Averett's sweep with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Meredith's Javi Brito.
This marks the Cougars fourth straight win over the Avenging Angles and the team's third straight 9-0 victory over Meredith.
Averett is back in action on Friday when it travels to No. 22 Washington and Lee University at 3 p.m.
