Faith Bowlin each scored seven goals and fellow senior
Raven Felder added four scores as Averett University women's lacrosse cruised to a 21-5 non-conference win over Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Bethany (3-2) opened the game with two consecutive goals to go up 2-0 in the first five minutes. However, Averett (3-0) responded with five consecutive goals to finish out the opening quarter, including two by Bowlin and two from Peasley.
Averett held the Bison scoreless in the second as the Cougars' increased their lead to 13-2 by halftime. After Peasley opened the second with a goal, Bowlin added two more before Felder scored three consecutive goals. Sophomore

Bethany got back within nine briefly after opening the third quarter with two goals. Yet, the Cougars scored five unanswered goals in the frame — two more apiece from Peasley and Bowlin, and sophomore Kay Jay netted her first goal of the season.
After a Bethany goal to start the fourth quarter, Peasley added two more goals and Bowlin got one more just before time expired as Averett remained undefeated with the victory over the Bison.
Felder, Bowlin and Rios each had an assist, and Bowlin led the team with 14 draw controls and four ground balls.
With her seven goals against Bethany, Peasley moved into seventh all-time in NCAA Division III career goals. She now has 334, one goal shy of tying Rhodes College's Kendall Cunningham (2015-18) and three shy of tying Rosemont College's Julia Brown (1999-03) for fifth all-time.
Peasley now has 22 goals this season, while Bowlin has 14 through three contests.
Averett hosts Eastern Mennonite University in a non-conference matchup on March 18, which will serve as its Team Molly benefit game.
