LYNCHBURG, Va. — Averett University's women's tennis team blanked the University of Lynchburg 5-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Wednesday.
Averett (13-2, 8-1 ODAC) swept all three doubles matches, with sophomore
Keira Gunning and freshman
Brenda Poulakidas teaming up for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Senior
Alejandra Garcia and junior
Paula Ryhsen won their No. 2 doubles match 8-4, and junior
Daniela Poulakidas and freshman
Elisa Battermann earned a win with a tiebreak win, 8-7 (7-3).
Up 3-0 over Lynchburg (11-6, 6-4 ODAC) entering singles play, freshman
Amelie Brune won at No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0. Averett clinched a victory when Gunning won her No. 1 singles match 7-6 (10-3), 6-1.
Averett finishes the regular season at Sweet Briar College on Saturday.
