DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University men's lacrosse fell at home in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play to Guilford College on Wednesday night by a score of 21-5.
Averett (2-7, 0-4 ODAC) struck first from sophomore
Brayton Powers unassisted goal at 11:04 in the first quarter. Averett's defense would hold off a Guilford (5-4, 1-4 ODAC) goal until 4:39 left in the first. The Quakers then went on a run of six unanswered goals.
Powers netted a hat trick in the outing, freshman
Emmett Wood and junior
Connor Taff each scored a goal. Freshman
Tyler Duffey and Wood also tallied an assist each. In the cage for the Cougars, freshman
Cameron Prutzman made 23 saves and picked up a team high nine ground balls.
As a team, Averett picked up 42 ground balls and had seven caused turnovers.
Averett is back in action this weekend when it hosts Bridgewater College at home on Saturday with first face-off slated for 1 p.m.
