DANVILLE, Va. — Junior right-hander
Taylor Sullivan threw her second consecutive shutout as Averett University beat Ferrum College 1-0 on Wednesday. The Panthers edged Averett 2-0 in Game 2 to earn a doubleheader split in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Cougar Field.
In the opener, Averett (7-19, 3-6 ODAC) got an RBI bloop single to left field from senior
Karsin Lee in the fourth inning, scoring sophomore
Angela Rodriguez from second to put the Cougars in front 1-0. That was all Sullivan (4-7) needed. She allowed just two hits and didn't give up a walk in the win in the circle.

In Game 2, Ferrum (10-10, 2-4 ODAC) scored on a bases-loaded fielder's choice in the first inning, then added another insurance run in the fourth on a wild pitch. Although the Cougars were able to escape further damage throughout the game, those two runs were enough for the Panthers, who held Averett to only two hits.
Averett travels to Randolph College for ODAC play on Saturday.
