BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Averett University women's tennis topped conference foe Bridgewater College 8-1 on the road Wednesday.
Averett (9-1, 5-1 ODAC) got off to a strong start, taking all threee doubles matches over Bridgewater (5-8, 3-4 ODAC)
Junior
Paula Ryhsen and sophomore
Keira Gunning topped Emma Nesselrodt and Ryan Roeber 8-3 in the top flight. At No. 2 doubles freshman
Brenda Poulakidas and junior
Daniela Poulakidas took down Malena Hoover and Grace Knighton 8-5, and at No. 3 doubles freshmen duo
Elisa Battermann and
Amelie Brune had a convincing 8-2 win over Emily Daigneault and Emily Wylie.
At No. 1 doubles Ryhsen won 6-2, 6-2 over Nesselrodt,
Brenda Poulakidas won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles over Daigneault and
Daniela Poulakidas picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hoover at No. 3.
Brune defeated Roeber 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot and Bettermann won in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 over Wylie.
Averett is back in action next when it hosts Shaw University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
