DAVIDSON, N.C. — Averett University men's soccer fell to Division I Davidson College 3-0 after a gallant defensive effort to hold the Wildcats scoreless for 60 minutes of play.

Tyler Yates had a impressive showing in the match, making five saves in the contest, facing 19 shots. His first save came in the 37th minute. Yates was on the right side of the goal and stretched out to his left to make a spectacular diving save.
Davidson (2-0-1, 0-0-0 SOCON) scored in the 60th minute following a goal from Alonzo Clarke to lead Averett (1-1-1, 0-0-0 ODAC) 1-0. The Wildcats' second goal was scored by Denis Krioutchenkov after he found the back of the net in the 85th minute. Davidson added one more goal to the tally three minutes prior to the end of the match.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday for their home opener against Pfeiffer University at 11 a.m.
