DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University women's basketball fell 63-53 to Hollins University at home on Wednesday.
After trailing early in the first, Averett (4-12, 2-) took a 17-15 lead into the second quarter over Hollins (6-8, 2-7 ODAC) despite Hollins shooting a 40 three-point percentage. Â

Carmen Moore lead the first half scoring for the Cougars with six points each as the Cougars took a 27-25 lead into halftime.
Hollins chipped away at the Averett lead throughout the third and fount itself with a 33-32 lead with 4:44 left in the third. The Cougars entered the final quarter down 42-40 after Hollins erupted for 17 points in the third.
Hollins extended its lead throughout the fourth to go on to win 63-53.
Moore and sophomore
Skylar Jones each had a team-high 11 points in the loss while senior
Talia Prosper had eight rebounds.
This marks the Cougars second-straight loss to Hollins. Averett is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Lynchburg at 2 p.m.
