DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University women's basketball fell on the road to Randolph College 67-65 on Wednesday night.
Randolph (10-6, 4-6 ODAC) opened up the game with an 8-0 scoring run over Averett (4-14, 2-9 ODAC). Averett took its first lead of the night from freshman
Emma Jones three-pointer with nine minutes left in the second quarter. The WildCats took and eight point lead into halftime. The Cougars chipped away at Randolph's lead in the third, scoring 23 points in the third quarter, taking a two point lead into the fourth. Averett lead by as much as nine and lead for eight minutes of the fourth quarter before Randolph took the lead and went on to win by two points.
Jones had a career and team-high 15 points while knocking down five three-pointers for the Cougars. Sophomore
Rayanna Evans helped by scoring 13 points. Redshirt freshman
Carmen Moore had a team-high eight rebounds for Averett.
