DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's basketball fell to No. 10 Randolph-Macon College 78-41 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action on Wednesday in the Grant Center.

The nationally ranked Yellow Jackets used a strong start in the first half to take control as Averett's offense was slow to get going. The Cougars, who started 1-for-17 from the field, trailed 19-4 at 11:45 mark as Randolph-Macon (15-3, 8-1 ODAC) continued to extend its lead throughout the first period. Averett (4-15, 2-9 ODAC) eventually settled in thanks to a good first half from senior
Jason Sellars II, who had nine points and six rebounds while going 5-for-6 from the foul line before the break. Still, the Yellow Jackets rode Jabril Robinson's 15 points in the first half to a 42-19 advantage at halftime.
Averett's offense was more efficient in the second half but the large early deficit was too much to overcome against Randolph-Macon.
Averett outrebounded Randolph-Macon 31-30, including 12-5 on the offensive glass.
Sellars finished with 11 points and six boards for the Cougars, who also got eight points from freshman
Jamison Graves. Freshman Nico Liberatore chipped in seven points and three rebounds.
Robinson totaled a game-high 26 points, six assists and five steals for Randolph-Macon.
Averett hosts No. 8 Guilford College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
