HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Averett University men's soccer saw their three-game unbeaten streak end, losing 3-0 at Hampden-Sydney College on Saturday night.
Hampden-Sydney (8-4-3, 6-1-2 ODAC) grabbed the early advantage shortly after a set piece, where Victor Ovalle-Mares found Walker Stebbings for the contest's opening goal in the fifth minute.
Later on, the Tigers seized an opportunity from a foul inside the penalty box, and Charlie Letson took advantage, doubling Hampden-Sydney's lead. The home team tacked on their third score just a minute later, as Stebbings accounted for his second of the night in the 15th.
Averett (4-6-6, 1-5-3, ODAC) began to piece together offensive chances in the second period, with eight shots alone, including four on goal. Tiger keeper Wills Huddleston made key saves to keep the Cougars scoreless through full-time.

Tyler Yates tallied his seventh game this season with five or more saves, with six versus the Tigers.
The Cougars wrap up the 2024 regular season with a trip to Randolph College next Wednesday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
