VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Averett University women's volleyball lost 3-0 at Virginia Wesleyan University in conference play on Tuesday night. The Marlins won 25-15, 25-10 and 25-23.
Averett (12-15, 6-6 ODAC) and Virginia Wesleyan (23-4, 10-1 ODAC) battled in tight sets throughout. The two teams were tied at 21-21 in Set 3 before the Marlins gained momentum to close it out. 
Sophomore 
Sydney Mounce showed out on the Cougars' offense with nine kills, while graduate student 
Emma Nash and sophomore 
Hope Parrish had six kills a piece. Junior 
Dayton Moore recorded 15 of the teams 29 total assists while senior 
Kinsley Stevens had 11. Fifth-year libero 
Erin Gray paced the Cougars' defense with 15 digs. 
The Cougars travel to Newport News, Virginia, on Friday for a non-conference matchup against the University of Mary Washington.
