The Series: The Cougars are 39-37 all-time against Ferrum since 1985. The Panthers won last year's lone matchup 84-62 at Ferrum.
Averett at a Glance: Averett men's basketball team travels Wednesday to play Ferrum College in the Cougars' Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener. The Cougars, who are receiving votes in the D3hoops poll, have started the season with five wins, including two over top-25 teams. Although Averett lost a non-counting Division I exhibition at Winthrop University on Nov. 27, the Cougars were victorious in their last counting game with an 80-65 win over then-No. 10 Christopher Newport University on Nov. 25.  Averett sophomore Jamison Graves was named the ODAC's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, and also earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week following his career-high 36 points against nationally ranked Christopher Newport ... Averett is six wins away from 500 as a program.
