DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's basketball dropped a home conference matchup 67-50 to Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday in the Grant Center.

Virginia Wesleyan (5-2, 2-0 ODAC) built a six-point halftime lead, and the Marlins shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the second half — including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc — to hold off any comeback attempts by the Cougars. Virginia Wesleyan shot 50 percent from the floor for the game.

Jackson Sellars scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed a career-best eight rebounds for Averett (5-2, 0-2 ODAC), which also got 14 points from senior

Mason Mitchell chipped in eight points for the Cougars, who shot a season-low 34.9 percent.
